A Barrack or Factory is something you can "build" anywhere in your own territory you want. You "build" them like a unit, then transport the "parts" using air transports or sea transports (maybe by cargo ship, cargo plane, freight truck if those ideas are implemented). Once you have placed them where you where you want, select them, and next to the "load on transport" button would be a button to create an infantry* barracks, ground vehicle factory, Naval Factory, or Air unit factory, depending on what you selected when you built the parts. Once built the barrack/factory will be able to supply you with 2-4 units per reinforcement week of whichever type the factory is that you have available to you. However, once built, the factory or barracks functions independently from the country it is in. The country can be captured and it will still produce units for you. It could be captured and produce units for the other player. It can even be destroyed from the unit panel. Of course, these wouldn't be free. Instead, they'd be rather costly, but not too much. The point of this suggestion is for those places where you dont have many reinforcements near the battlefield, but you do have plenty of money. Anyway, sorry for the long post, I wanted to be detailed. Reply with you questions, comments, or concerns. * Infantry referring to any ground troop, not limited to the infantry unit.

Sounds like a cool idea to me, though I can't think of all too many countries that are rich and don't have many spawns. Australia is the only one that comes to mind.

This is meant for the times when your empire spans lets say, across half of asia, and you own china, but the battlefield is in, say, kazakhstan. Kazakhstan has very little spawns, so it would be beneficial to have a factory there to fight off europe's advancing forces.

Yeah, agreed. Though maybe it should take a while to build up so that people would actually have to have some troops there to start with and would have to defend it while it was being built

I think that it would over-complicate the gameplay. I think that the upcoming population casualties with the (possible) option to move citizens is an easier and better solution to change the reinforcement rates.

But what if you're in the middle of nowhere like in western china? No production there.

It does seen over complicated, however it is a good idea... factories could provide more income, and grow per day (like cities growing percentages) and the barracks could produce +1 or +2 units...

Err i can imagine people taking advantage of this... like someone with a lot money (Europe america etc..) could easily build a lot of factories and in effect have a shitone of units maybe make the barrakcs like 900 a cost with +6 reinforcments? or maybe even our first 1k cost unit but extremley invaluable

What you just said is what people already do- except without having to spend money on factories.

Limit barracks to 1 per player, simple. Call it a command center or something, also I think if captured, it gets razed and you should lose something like cash, maybe 20% of your incoming funds on next turn. There now it has to be placed carefully.

Not bad. But I still reckon it would invalidate the usage of most tactics in Europe for instance. When fighting with China over Central Asia, something like this could be very useful indeed but otherwise it would pretty much make the game boil down to the choice of start location. Also, you didn't mention how many units it could recruit per round. Could it be upgradeable? See, if it could only recruit 1 per round it would be worthless and would needlessly complicate the game, but even if it could recruit just 4 every round it would probably make a bunch of strategies useless.
