13 new rare units have been added to the game, some of them country-specific. A couple of units that have long been requested by players will make an occasional appearance.

Also, Battleship has been renamed Destroyer, since it's the primary modern naval unit (while most battleships have been decommissioned). Destroyer's stats remained the same as Battleship's. Battleships will now appear as rare units.

I don't like rare units and always set them to none in my games, but it's a good upgrade to those who enjoy it.

I like the renaming to Destroyer, it is more appropriate as this game is supposed to depict modern battles, no one uses the giant Battleships of WWII nowadays espicially with the rising price of oil.

Actualy Battleships were decomishioned after there weekness was discovered. there a BIG boat in a big ocean that make a great target for subs and bombers. there to slow to ketch a sub and dont shoot straing up. Also the bismark and other famous wwII battleships were verry expensive and the arecraft carier was so much more usefull and better protected that the battleship became a sitting duck in the oceans.

Not entirely true, battleships don't exist because the USA isn't a fan of them, and no one else has the money to build them, If you were to build a proper battleship today it would be a major force to be reckoned with in an age where the royal navy has warships that are so good at anti aircraft (type 45 destroyer I think) that they can shoot down enemy aircraft/missiles from 400 miles away.
Imagine being captain of an aircraft carrier and finding that your planes are being shot down within 5 seconds of their taking of, and there's a warship equipped with railguns (very powerful cannons that are coming out of development) targeting you.

Whenever a battleship could get its target in range the battleship would slaughter it, which is partly why aircraft carries always are escorted by a small fleet: they are an easy target (even for small ships)

Wrong. Yes the whole point of a battleship was to be big, and were basically larger, more heavily armoured and armed versions of destroyers . But Despite their great firepower and protection, battleships were vulnerable to smaller, cheaper ordnance; First the torpedo and then the naval mine. After the rise of Air power and Guided missiles, Huge guns were no longer seen as necessary to establish naval superiority.

Because of this, during ww2, Aircraft carriers(have radar guided air-to-air missiles and ofc aircraft and also laser guided miniguns to shoot incoming missiles(miniguns after ww2 ofc)) replaced battleships as the leading ship, defended by destroyers(They are faster and more maneuverable than battleships, They defend, nothing else, against submarines and aircraft) cruisers (generally no longer used, cruise missiles to strike land targets.) , frigates (anti-submarine defense)

submarines are a big threat to aircraft carriers, which is why they have a fleet escorting them.

Just to set you straight destroyers are better equiped at anti-sub defence than frigates. we are not just used to escort the carriers but have many missions. 1) ready tail ship- means search and find submarines 2)BMD- ballistic missle defence 3) strike warfare- launching tomohawk usually against land targets 4) Carrier defence. all destroyers cycle through 1,2,4 equally for they are all three what we are built for. we will only go to 3 if we intend to attack another nation.

That's the case in the game anyway though it's not so elaborate.

Destroyers have a higher defence, 7, than ship transports (frigates) which have only 2 defence.
This applies to all units. It's not like submarines have a bonus against these types of units--in fact, they don't have a bonus against anything.
