Moderation: Are we overly treated like children?

Mods, please do not lock this thread unless it devolves into a flame war that is off-topic entirely. Also, I should mention that if this thread were locked because of "Rude discussion about moderation", or anything similar, that would be equivalent to telling us, the players, that we have no say in enjoying this game how we wish to.

Hello friends. Recently, /int/ has shown back up for their annual orgy in the Beginner's lobby. That being said, faces like Vaficlap and akin are showing back up, after two years, and are shocked and appalled at the fact we all stand for being treated like children, when it comes to chat. Well, why are we? We weren't always, did we do something wrong? Being one of AtWar's oldest players, I can assure you that nothing has ever been so drastic as to have threads locked over being moved to off-topic, people muted for having casual debates in the lobby about world events, and to maliciously ban players over and over for having a differing opinion, and egging them on. What do I believe needs to be done? Loosen up a bit. Nobody cares about our daily Tik-Tok vs. Zion debates, or the uncommon Tunder3 spam-wave of game chat (Well, they wouldn't if they didn't feel privileged to nark on them). This is coming from the guy who spent a year being a schizophrenic, overly-emotional emofaggot on this game day-in and day-out. I honestly see no point in pandering to political correctness, being overly-nice, and limiting people's enjoyment of the game, because some 13 year-old doesn't understand the concept of playful sarcasm.

Also: I do not refer to spamming global repetitiously, and being muted for it as "oppression". Global is for announcements and advertisements only, even I can agree with that (Announcements = "VAFIKA STRONG" x1 per day" || "Hello mates, anyone wish to 1v1 me?", Advertisements = "Join ShitUN v.8===>, need 69 moar players" || "Check out this thread!: http://etcetc").

We are because some people do act like children, fock if you put that in off topic it would have been fine. Not general discussion, though i think meester should have just moved it to off topic. if some people stop acting like children we will stop being moderated like children.

You obviously didn't catch my point.

I'm all for healthy discussions of the middle east issues. However, they OFTEN derange to a huge flame fest. I, Pulse, don't try to halt them or stop them, but we, as mods, have different opinions about enforcing the rules. I don't even think insulting should be something penalized but it usually becomes stalking and then you have someone complaining that he is constantly being latejoined by the same player.

The only reason the moderation treats players like children is because they act like children.

And there's another point: the community of this game is already so acid that if we completely remove these kinds of rules, it will become a completely hostile player base, that does not foster new players or welcomes them, which is something we should avoid. I've caught myself being my very worst when playing this game, holding grudges, being happy when another player fails or is modded, stalking players and insulting them. And outside of AW I consider myself a pretty reasonable dude, but the game awakens the worst in me.

I guess it's the nature of risk-like games, even the board one already breaks friendships and marriages, so why should AW be any different? In my opinion, an effort should be made to revert this, to make this community a better place for new players, to make it less elitist and more friendly. But I digress.

Handful of atwar members are not the type of guys to know where's the limit. And that's the place where our moderators take action to cease the case.

Moderators are here to enforce the game rules which were approved by the admins.
If you break any of the rules that are stated in -here-, the mods have the privilege to act according to their preference. Some might let it slip, some might not.

But if you still insist to have the risk of being moderated like a "child", know that it is your fault when the banhammer strike!

Well, I sort of like the idea of the community ringing in on how a mod is doing, moreso than the admins...sometimes Mods have to be strict though, if they aren't, than the message never goes across. I don't think it's too much power, I think it's the wrong personalities. I feel like Mods would be better if they were more empathetic/understanding, or they had the drive to question a player why they did such actions. There were a few mods like this in the past: HeyI, Specter, Sificvoid, and Pinheiro, along with some current mods that I've had the chance to get acquainted with, like Columna Durruti.

This is actually a needed step. The new players who dare to go out of the beginner lobby, even when rank five, get kicked regularly from games because they are considered "noob". I don't think this is an enviroment for players to actually enjoy this game.

On the topic: This community has to be treated very strict, as this community is pure poison. I don't see the conflict of mods playing the game and moderating at the same time. It has been a problem when this game had a competetive setting and mods would take part in the competition, abusing their powers to weaken other clns. But I don't see this conflict now.

Or maybe; Moderators treats some players like children because they are children and they act like children?

Sorry for double-post. Like Gard said, Global is to advertise maps in-game and TOPICS ON-FORUMS. I am not crying because I got muted for advertising a topic (Related to AW ofc.) on Global, It's just annoying that I got muted for such a retarded reason and I'm almost sure this happened because VRIL was mad. No offense I'm not talking about abusing or smth, but when you're muting me for doing something that is allowed (Or should be) then, yes, I believe you're mad.

Wrong. On more than one occasion I have insulted Vril in global. Totally understandable. The outlandish punishment for this "rulebreaking", or in my eyes vigilante justice, was like 100000 minutes worth of mute or something. I should also add I am never a doofus on Afterwind.
